If veteran request to see his/her c-file ,can he take someone other than a VSO with him/her to look over c-file.

Babyduck, instead of taking a quick look at your C-file at a VA Regional Office, why don't you just request a complete copy of your file. Then you will have all the time you want to review it and you can share the information with whoever you choose.

Babyduck, call the VA office that has this Vets C-file and find out what the rules are for that particular office is. I'll bet every regional office has different policies. I'm sure you will also need to set up an appointment so that the records are available for review.

FWIW, requests for copies of ones c-file aren't always processed in anything remotely approaching timely. Just to see how things went, I submitted a request for mine last July under FOIA. Exactly 20 days later I received the required notice for "more time is required". It's now 4 mos later and still haven't received it. Under FOIA, there doesn't seem to be a definition of "more time". I've let it go just to see what transpires. So far it's pretty ugly. YMMV.
