Severance Pay

I might be having a Med Board done on me. Anybody knows how the army calculates your severance pay, I was told that it was your base pay times 2 times the years served. Is that correct?. Any info on severance pay and VA percent will be appreciated.

Check section 5-1 for details on calculating separation pay. Generally, the services are less generous with their determination of disability percentage than the VA. If you get 10-20% you'll get a separation pay with a discharge. If it's 30% or more you get disability retirement. If you take the separation pay and later file a VA claim and get a monthly compensation from the VA, your compensation will be withheld until your separation is recouped entirely. IOW, to get VA compensation, you must pay separation pay back so don't go out and buy that new 'vette if you intend to file a VA claim.
