claim terms

I've called VA hot line on several occasions and they gave me these terms when ask where my claim might be.
1. in developement
2. in developement waiting on C&P examine and letter from employer
3. waiting to be picked up by the rating board

today called and was told waiting on decision,can anyone explain what this might mean or the differance between this and waiting to be picked up by the rating board. THANKS

It sounds as if all the initial development work has been done and the file transferred to the custody of the ratings team for a first look. That doesn't mean someone is actively working with it or that a decision will be immediately forth coming when someone eventually gets around to looking at it. Only a ratings specialist (RVSR) knows when it's ready to be rated. When someone does look at it, it could be rated or it could go back for more development. Don't be surprised if that happens.

FWIW, this isn't like tracking a FedEx package where each step moves things forward toward the end point. It can go back and forth between development and the rating team multiple times. By knowing where it's at and where it's been does not tell you what is left or how long that's going to be before it's done.
