Hello. Was wondering if any of you friends know how long IU Disability will last. I received the IU determination back in 1995. I remain ill to this day, but want to buy a house and want to know if I should feel secure in my benefits. For all of you informed people, is there any news on the horizon of doing away with IU? I know its a very controversial subject. Thanks....

IMHO I would go on with my life and buy that house if I were you. I think if any changes are ever made they are years way and mostly affect new applicants for benefits.

    Thanks

Stumpy thanks for your opinion. Has the VA ever made a move to do away with benefits of any kind before? If I wanted to research this where would you start? I want to monitor the progress of this new committee. Again Thanks...

Birddog, as far as I know the VA has never decreased any benefits. What ever this Commission says is only a recommendation in the first place. The US congress would have to pass laws to make any changes to VA compensation. I just don't see that happening. The Commission does have a web site and I will post the link here when I find it.

    Index to Disability Examination Worksheets

    Index to Disability Examination Worksheets
These 57 Disability Examination Worksheets are in use both by the doctors of VHA (Veterans Health Administration) who do the disability examinations and by the rating specialists, hearing officers, and Decision Review Officers of VBA (Veterans Benefits Administration) who do the disability evaluations.
