    NO STRESSES, ALL FUN REUNION

    OF FORMER VVnW VIETNAM VETERANS

Last year a few former members of the “you-know-who” organization attended the funeral of a well loved and missed comrade. Soon after it was proposed that we gather together each year just to visit and reminisce about old friends, events and experiences we shared over the years. This year’s event was the first. We had members from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This event was attended by a former VVnW National Commander. Three other former VVnW National Boards of Directors, 2 former VVnW State Commanders and State Officers as well as just about every veteran there was a Past VVnW Post Commander. The wives of these men were just as involved in their husband’ years of work for veterans as were their husbands. Some of these folks are still actively helping and supporting veterans.

We’d like to thank those who attended are looking forward to visiting together next year.

Bob and Kathy B., Richard S., Tony & Carol D., Sue S., Ed and Carol S., John and Linda N., Jerry and Ginny B., John & Marlene S., John & Chris A., Joyce & Ken R., Don & Vickie N., John and Joan M.

There were no meetings, no agenda, and just some veteran friends gathering together. On Saturday, after a “group” breakfast, some of us went to the Hershey Park Chocolate Factory Stores to buy some “fresh” chocolate candy. Later we went to one of Pennsylvania’s new casinos, the Hollywood Casino. It was just ½ mile from the Motel. It appeared that the most popular slots were the $.01 slots. You can play and lose a thousand coins and yet spend (lose) only $10.00. And still have a great time playing without the stress of spending (losing) too much. Some of the “reminiscing” was hilarious. Someone from NY even brought some Hula-Hoops. Other’s brought photo albums that showed events that covered over 20 years with the “you-know-who” organization back when it was a valid vet’s organization.

We all agreed to gather in D.C. next year, tentatively the first or second weekend in October 2010. We returned to our homes agreeing that this was one of the most informal, enjoyable and pleasurable veteran events we’ve ever attended. We’re looking forward to having more of the “old gang” there next year.

Any other’s who would like to attend or if anyone’s information changes please send your name, address, phone number and e-mail address to Kathy at : [email protected] . Like I said earlier this is just “Vietnam War Veteran friends gathering together”. HOOAHH!

    Great times with great friends

Thanks, Don, for starting a new thread about the Reunion. Ken and I had the BEST time! My cheeks hurt from so much laughing. The photo albums brought back so many memories and were sparking wonderful conversations.
I'm glad that so many old friends were able to gather for this informal reunion. Again...no stress! Some of us haven't seen each other since 2002 before all the BS started but we made a firm commitment to gather again in DC next year. We raised our glasses (mostly soda) in a memorial tribute to friends who have passed away since we last met and set up the POW/MIA Table for one in the hospitality room. I thought we had a pretty classy act for a first time endeavor. Our deepest thanks to Carol, John M., Kathy and everyone else who made this weekend possible! We love you all!
I'll dig out MY photo albums for even BIGGER laughs! A "raffle" is already being planned, as are a few "awards". PLEASE send Kathy Bowers the names and contact info of other vets from the old organization.
