I have the following Glucose readings on my past three blood test, all are fasting prior to the test:

    05-05-2008 132

    02-04-2008 116

    10-29-2007 129

As I don't know much about Diabetes other than what I have read on the American Diabetes Association web site. They say anything over 126 is Diabetes, but what would the VA say?

I was in Viet Nam 1969-1970 in the Central Highlands (AnKhe).

    Thanks: Sgt D

I think they would agree but what you really need is a diagnosis. If you have a diagnosis from a private physician they usually won't even do a fasting glucose test. The VASRD is quite clear about this. See note (2) under CFR ยง 4.119 under DC 7213 They will probably do a test for ketoacidosis. 24 hr piss in a jug test.

You should be under a doctor's care for this. At the moment, I'd suspect suspect diet and exercise will controll your glucose.

    7913 Diabetes mellitus
Requiring more than one daily injection of insulin, restricted 100
diet, and regulation of activities (avoidance of strenuous
occupational and recreational activities) with episodes of
ketoacidosis or hypoglycemic reactions requiring at least
three hospitalizations per year or weekly visits to a
diabetic care provider, plus either progressive loss of
weight and strength or complications that would be
    compensable if separately evaluated..........................
Requiring insulin, restricted diet, and regulation of 60
activities with episodes of ketoacidosis or hypoglycemic
reactions requiring one or two hospitalizations per year or
twice a month visits to a diabetic care provider, plus
complications that would not be compensable if separately
    evaluated....................................................
Requiring insulin, restricted diet, and regulation of 40
    activities...................................................
Requiring insulin and restricted diet, or; oral hypoglycemic 20
    agent and restricted diet....................................
Manageable by restricted diet only............................ 10
Note (1): Evaluate compensable complications of diabetes
separately unless they are part of the criteria used to
support a 100 percent evaluation. Noncompensable
complications are considered part of the diabetic process
    under diagnostic code 7913.
Note (2): When diabetes mellitus has been conclusively
diagnosed, do not request a glucose tolerance test solely for
    rating purposes.

    Thanks TCM

I did get a letter from my civilian primary care provider and had copies of the last 3 blood test. I filed last week with the VA thru my County VA rep, so now it's a wait and see. I do belive that this also explains alot of the problems I'm having like shaking until I eat something, burning feet and restless legs. Oh well if I have to piss in the jug I hope it's a big jug for I've been pissing a lot of late. :D :D Sgt D

The shaking is probably low glucose. I get it when I've taken my pills and don't get to eat for a while. I keep hard candy around when that happens. The feet could be neuropathy or it could be you're getting older and have lost some of the fat cushion on the bottom of the feet. You won't fill that jug up, it's an Imperial Gallon.

Most of the people blame that we don't get the results by the use medicines but they should keep in mind one thing that the use of exercise is necessary along with the use of the medicine.
