I’m new to this forum and searching for some info concerning Prostate Cancer. I entered the Army in 1979 and retired in Nov 2004 (25 years, served in Infantry, Armor and forward-area Air Defense Artillery Units). I was diagnosed with low risk prostate cancer in Oct 2010. Last year I opted to have the prostate removed and requested robotic arm surgery. The Hampton VA Center does not perform that type of surgery so I was given a consult to the Richmond VA Center. The Urologist there reviewed my records and suggested that surgery wasn’t necessary and recommended active surveillance with annual biopsy’s. My most recent biopsy came back negative – thank goodness! I am not on any type of medication, but I do have some problems with frequent urination and ED. I was wondering can I claim my prostate cancer as being service connected? Any advice that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
