I really have two questions. I am currently employed in goverment service. I am a service connected veteran rated at 40%. My first question if I am forced to apply for disability retirement due to a service connected condition how would that be treated by the VA.I aslo have a non-service related condition that could be considered having an impact on my service connection. Second, how would this affect my government pension? I am CSRS employee. Any help would be welcome.

CSRS disability retirement has no effect on VA disability. Your non-service related condition can form part of the basis for your disability retirement as can your service connected condition. Your CSRS disability retirement doesn't care why you are disabled, only that you are unable to work any longer.

How do I check on my claim? Been calling and writing for over 1&1/2 years. Three answers:
!. VA Service Officer: Call this number
    2. Regional VA office: Sorry we can not take your call now. Leave another message.
    3. Reginal VA office: No decision has been made yet. Congress has to act on this one.

I worked under FERS and now receive FERS Disability Retirement. The only government program that has an offset against my FERS Disability Retirement income is SS Disability. VA Disability [when I get it], along with my Military retirement, will have NO IMPACT on FERS and vice versa.

If all else fails, put in another claim form requesting a reconsideration on a claim that has been submitted. In any case, they will have to respond to your request regardless.... then go in from there if you have additional information to give or comments that you need to add.

it may or may not work... but it has for me.

Is there any wonder why the claim process is so back logged?
