    USS Auburn

While I have never served on the USS Auburn, my Grandfather did. His name was Jerry Mankoff; and he did serve in both campaigns. Please let me know if you remember him? I have some great photos of him during his training on a tall 3 masted ship in the Gulf of Mexico prior to his deployment. Looking forward to a response.

My wife's grandfather served on the USS Auburn. He is still alive (82). He has told me many stories. His name was George Webb. He was born in Milford, DE. His is now living in Salisbury, MD. He told me that he carried men ashore at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
